Key Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger accounting functions, including journal entry process development and review, general ledger account reconciliation review for high-risk accounts, and Stores Accounting functions.
- Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Respond to and review data requests from internal and external auditors.
- Develop and cultivate positive business relationships between Accounting and other Nuclear/AEP business partners.
- Support Accounts Payable Invoice Processing by reviewing invoices for proper accounting and submitting for approval
- Proactively assess, develop, and enhance Accounting processes and procedures on a continuous basis.
- Participate in special projects, as requested.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the AEP Corporate Compliance policy.
- Demonstrate an ability to be the lead subject matter expert on Nuclear Accounting activities.
- Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of business solutions software.
- Knowledge of FERC and Regulatory Accounting concepts and principles – specifically as it applies to the Nuclear plant accounts and concepts.
- Support the Nuclear Plant in an Outage role or Non-Traditional Outage position as needed.
- Ability to provide support for the Nuclear plant in Labor Time Entry and Payroll processes.
- Support the Nuclear Plant Decommissioning Study, including the preparation of reports and communication of outcomes to management.
