Job Description

Under the direction of Distribution System Supervisor (DSS), assist and learn to perform work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal, and inspection of electrical distribution facilities.

Requirements

Education requirements: High school diploma or GED. Enrolled in a power line related one year or greater certificate program, which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship, or a power line related associated degree program which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship. This job requires "recommended" test results from HireVue Line Worker Virtual Job Tryout. This assessment is completed online, is untimed, and typically takes about 45 minutes to complete. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Must possess a CDL permit.
Must be eligible to acquire and maintain a CDL-A driver's license.
Through a combination of education and experience candidate must have sufficient knowledge and skill to perform the job duties and functions listed in Principal Accountabilities above.
Possess a polite and accommodating attitude.
Must have ability to work with public, respond to questions, and provide instruction. Must be proficient in computer skills and use of Microsoft products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Must have a basic knowledge/understanding of the production, transmission and distribution of electricity.
Must have a continuous improvement mindset Previous experience working in a public setting preferred. Possess a neat appearance. Interns work the same work schedule and shifts as the crew they are assigned. They may be required to work overtime and call-outs.
This role requires regular overtime and on-call response. Travel, including out of town travel, may also be required.
