Job Description
The Lead Controls Engineer at Nexamp is responsible for designing, programming, and testing automation systems for photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS), ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory needs while collaborating with various engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- •Design, program, install, and test automation systems for PV and BESS projects.
- •Write structured, well-documented PLC code in IEC_61131-3 and C/C++.
- •Manage Github CodeSys libraries for Solar PV and BESS assets.
- •Lead system designs for BMS, EMS, DAS, and SCADA for PV and BESS.
- •Participate in points checkout and capacity testing for projects.
- •Ensure integration of project SCADA communications into the Central SCADA system.
- •Develop SCADA communication drawing templates.
- •Manage specifications and configurations for SCADA and monitoring platforms.
- •Process and interpret SCADA requirements for various markets and utilities.
- •Develop control logic for power curtailment and frequency regulation.
- •Define project commissioning requirements and manage scopes of work for commissioning engineers.
- •Participate in new product research and implementation.
- •Provide remote SCADA support throughout project lifecycles.
Requirements
- •7 years of experience in SCADA and controls system design in Renewable sector such as Solar, Wind and Storage.
- •5 years of IEC 61131-3 PLC programming experience.
- •2 years of C/C++ programming experience.
- •Strong knowledge of pointers in C.
- •Proficient in MW Curtailment and Charge Discharge schemes for BESS, AVR Volt-Var, PF, MVAR, etc., Frequency Response, PV-BESS Hybrid controls.
- •Knowledge and experience with technical communications protocols Modbus TCP, DNP3.0, etc.
- •Working knowledge and hands-on experience with various relays, meters, SCADA Gateways, and Data Concentrators, including programming of RTACs.
- •Expertise in commissioning and resolving site technical issues, proven success in independently troubleshooting challenging SCADA related technical issues.
- •Experience managing contractors, resolving scheduling conflicts with key stakeholders, and managing internal and external resources.
- •Ability to work as part of a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- •Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
