# NextGen Energy Jobs > Job board and hiring data for the modern power system: data centers and critical facilities, the electric grid (transmission, distribution, substations, interconnection), nuclear and fusion, energy storage, power generation, power equipment, energy markets, and solar and wind. Listings are observed on employer career sites and applicant tracking systems, linked to the original posting, and refreshed daily. Canonical: https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/ Reviewed: 2026-10-29 Optional navigation aid for agents and automated clients. It is not a ranking instruction or a substitute for the page content and the robots policy. The homepage and job pages return Markdown at the same URL when requested with `Accept: text/markdown`. There are no separate .md URLs and no llms-full.txt. ## Machine interfaces - [MCP server](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/api/mcp): read-only, no sign-in, Streamable HTTP. The endpoint takes POST requests from MCP clients and answers a plain GET with 405, so do not open it in a browser. Use the setup page. Tools: `search_jobs`, `get_job`, `list_sectors`. Setup page: https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/mcp - MCP Registry name: `com.nextgenenergyjobs/jobs` - Claude Code install: `claude mcp add --scope user --transport http nextgenenergyjobs https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/api/mcp` - [JSON API](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/api/jobs?state=CA&remote=true&limit=25): `GET /api/jobs` returns active jobs as JSON, newest first (by the date the job was first seen). No key needed. - Markdown: send `Accept: text/markdown` to the homepage or to a job page. JSON API parameters (all optional, unknown names return 400): - `q`: keywords, for example `substation engineer` - `state`: US state code or name, for example `CA` or `California` - `city`: city name. Use it with `state` - `country`: country name. Do not combine it with `state` or `city` - `sector`: `data-centers`, `grid`, `nuclear`, or `renewables` - `company`: employer name, for example `Fervo Energy` - `remote`: `true` or `false` - `employment_type`: `full_time`, `part_time`, `contract`, or `internship` - `experience_level`: `entry`, `mid`, `senior`, or `executive` - `posted_within`: `24h`, `7d`, `30d`, or `90d` - `with_salary`: `true` for jobs with pay data - `page`: 1 to 100, default 1 - `limit`: 1 to 50, default 25 Example: `/api/jobs?state=CA&remote=true&limit=25&page=2` The response has `data`, `meta` (`page`, `limit`, `total`, `has_more`) and `links` (`self`, `next`). Follow `links.next` or the `Link: rel="next"` header while `has_more` is true. Page 100 is the last page. `total` can be larger than pages 1 to 100 return: narrow the filters to reach older jobs. Each job has `slug`, `title`, `company`, `company_url`, `location`, `city`, `state`, `country`, `remote`, `employment_type`, `experience_level`, `posted_at`, `salary`, `industry` and `url`. `company_url` is null when the employer has no page. `url` links to the job page with `utm_source=api&utm_medium=json` tags. `salary` is null when the posting states no pay. Estimated pay has `is_estimate: true`. Over the rate limit, the API returns 429 with `Retry-After`. Responses are marked noindex. ## URL patterns - Job page: `/company//jobs/`. Take the URL from a listing, the sitemap, or the `url` field. Do not build it from a title. - [Jobs by state](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/states): `/states/`, lower case, for example `/states/ca`. Full state names redirect to the code. - [Jobs by city](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/cities): `/cities/`, for example `/cities/houston`. - [Jobs by country](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/countries): `/countries/`. - [Employer page](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/company): `/company/`. Take the slug from a link. It returns 404 for employers with no active jobs. - [Job titles](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/job-titles): `/job-titles/`. - [Industries](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/industries): `/industries/`. - [Skills](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/skills): `/skills/`. ## Site search parameters Base: [/jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/jobs). Filtered URLs are for people and robots.txt excludes them from crawling. Agents that need many results use the JSON API or the MCP server. - `q`: keywords - `location`: one city, state, or country, free text - `remote`: `true` or `false` - `employmentType`: comma list of `FULL_TIME`, `PART_TIME`, `CONTRACTOR`, `INTERN` - `experienceLevel`: `ENTRY_LEVEL`, `MID_LEVEL`, `SENIOR_LEVEL`, or `EXECUTIVE` - `withSalary`: `true` - `postedWithin`: `24h`, `7d`, `30d`, or `90d` - `page`: page number, 10 jobs per page ## Sector job hubs - [Data center jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/data-center-jobs): construction, electrical and mechanical engineering, commissioning, controls, and critical facility operations - [Grid and utility jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/grid-jobs): substation and transmission engineering, protection and controls, interconnection, power systems, line work - [Nuclear and fusion jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/nuclear-jobs): advanced reactor and fusion developers, nuclear engineering and operations - [Energy storage jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/industries/energy-storage): battery energy storage (BESS) development, integration, and operations - [Power generation jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/industries/power-generation): plants, turbines, operations and maintenance - [Renewable energy jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/renewable-energy-jobs): solar, wind, and geothermal development, engineering, installation, and operations - [Solar jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/industries/solar-energy): utility-scale and distributed solar development, construction, and sales ## Search and browse - [All jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/jobs): full-text search with location, remote, salary, seniority, and employment-type filters - [Remote jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/remote-jobs): remote roles across the sector - [Entry-level jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/entry-level-jobs): early-career roles - [Jobs by city](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/cities), [by state](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/states), [by country](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/countries) - [Companies](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/company): employer pages with their open roles - [Job titles](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/job-titles): pages for recurring roles ## Market data - [Salary insights](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/salary-insights): pay ranges computed from listings that state compensation - [Methodology and data boundaries](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/methodology): how listings are sourced, classified, counted, and expired ## For employers - [Hire on NextGen Energy Jobs](https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/employers): post and feature roles ## Data and freshness - Listings, counts, and availability change as employers update their postings. Each job page links to the original employer posting. Verify status and application details there. - Salary figures are employer-stated unless a page, the JSON API (`is_estimate`), or an MCP result marks them as estimates. - Results are never ranked by paid placement in the JSON API or the MCP server. - Every public page is listed in the sitemap index at https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/sitemap.xml. Crawler policy is in https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/robots.txt. ## Crawler policy - Search and user-directed retrieval crawlers are named in https://www.nextgenenergyjobs.com/robots.txt. - AI search, retrieval, and training crawlers (including GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, and CCBot) may crawl the public site.
