Job Description

The Wastewater Plant Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and supervision of a wastewater treatment facility and pump stations, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficient performance while managing staff, budgets, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and pump stations
  • Supervise and coordinate a team of operators in treatment processes and maintenance activities
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and foster a safe work environment
  • Monitor treatment processes to achieve 100% compliance through daily process monitoring
  • Prepare reports for regulators, clients, and the company
  • Manage the project budget, scope, and schedule of contractual obligations
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the client and the company
  • Oversee equipment, structures, and grounds maintenance at the facility

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a college degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations or management.
  • Demonstrate experience in the daily operation and general maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, structures, and grounds.
  • Have experience supervising a small team of operators, including scheduling, coordinating, and directing staff in treatment processes and maintenance activities.
  • Be capable of working comfortably in a self-directed environment with minimal daily supervision, despite supervision being provided by an Area Manager.
  • Be responsible for fostering a safe work environment for all plant personnel and visitors, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Regularly prepare reports for regulators, the client, and the firm, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Manage the budget of the project, including overseeing the scope and schedule of contractual obligations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the client and the firm, demonstrating strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Participate in daily process monitoring and maintain a comprehensive maintenance system to achieve 100% compliance with regulatory standards.
