Job Description
The Director of Utility Business Development is responsible for driving new business from electric utilities, managing the sales process from lead generation to contract closure, and building strong relationships with utility leaders to support electric vehicle and grid modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
- •Own key accounts for major utilities in California and the Western United States
- •Develop new leads for prospective clients among major utilities
- •Grow relationships with utility leaders focused on electric vehicles and grid planning
- •Drive scoping discussions with utilities to balance stakeholder needs and close deals
- •Work with policy counterparts on regulatory engagement and market development
- •Craft formal project proposals and presentation materials
- •Negotiate term sheets and contracts
- •Support project management for contract implementation
- •Coordinate with associates on sales process improvements and product development
Requirements
- •At least 5 years of full-time high-profile sales business development experience.
- •Successful track record of building partnerships with electric utilities OR selling enterprise software.
- •BA/BS, or equivalent experience, required.
- •Demonstrated track record of empathy, individual initiative, a spirit of inquiry, and solutions-orientation.
- •Experience with enterprise-scale utility sales and contracting.
- •Domain expertise through industry experience in electric mobility and/or electric utilities.
- •Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- •Strong interpersonal skills and excellent work ethic.
- •Attention to detail and ability to function effectively under time pressure.
- •Ability to work with diverse teams and translate between various areas of expertise.
- •Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks in response to immediate needs.
- •Comfort with remote collaboration tools.
- •Travel required, when appropriate in accordance with health guidelines.
