Job Description
The Sr. Electrical Engineer will provide expertise in the design, review, and management of electrical systems for utility-scale solar, energy storage, and data center projects, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- •Create and manage electrical engineering design standards for quality, presentation, and cost-effectiveness.
- •Perform project design reviews and coordinate internal reviews and approvals by stakeholders.
- •Review medium voltage collection systems, interconnection, and substation system designs for efficiency, safety, and compliance.
- •Evaluate RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, providing technical guidance on equipment selection and vendor approval.
- •Support operations and maintenance teams with technical knowledge and troubleshooting.
- •Design and manage data center electrical infrastructure, including rack layout, power distribution, and network infrastructure.
- •Collaborate with stakeholders to develop project design criteria and basis of design documentation.
- •Research and evaluate new electrical design materials, methods, and technologies for renewable energy projects.
Requirements
- •Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in Electrical Engineering for Utility-scale solar and storage power plants
- •BSEE specializing in Power Systems from an ABET-accredited University, with MS and PE license considered a plus
- •Demonstrated strong engineering, design, and communication skills, and an ability to work in a dynamic team environment to think outside the box and solve traditional problems in new ways
- •In-depth knowledge of MV collection, transmission line, Converters, and HVAC HVDC substation design including substation Protection Control, SCADA, and Telecommunications
- •Proficient in creating drawings using AutoCAD and Visio
- •Experience in the design of On-Site Renewable Energy Generation, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), Microgrids, and Energy Storage
- •Skilled in designing backup power solutions with varying redundancy levels based on data center load criticality
- •Ability to complete work independently and handle most unique situations autonomously
- •Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and work effectively in a team environment
- •Strong knowledge of data center critical environment electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- •Experience in designing, integrating, and managing SCADA systems, and strong knowledge of network infrastructure within data centers to ensure efficient and secure operations
- •Experience in vendor management
- •Expertise in cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
- •Understanding of industrial commercial electrical one-lines
- •Experience with BMS, EPMS control systems, and data collection trending
- •Experience in developing MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs for carrying out systems operations
- •Knowledge of data center PUE and its derivation, as well as data center redundancy requirements at the network and power levels
- •Travel availability up to 20 domestic and international trips
