Job Description
The IEMS SCADA Engineer will support the development, deployment, and operation of intelligent energy management systems for renewable energy projects, focusing on control systems, AI algorithms, and SCADA integration to optimize solar and storage assets.
Responsibilities
- •Assist control and data acquisition integration of hardware such as inverters, storage, and compute loads at the Innovation Center and commercial plants
- •Develop and implement AI-based control algorithms for hardware management
- •Create test plans, oversee testing, and analyze performance of control algorithms
- •Deploy effective control algorithms into commercial plants and support their operations
- •Provide SCADA subject matter expertise during project design, construction, commissioning, and operations
- •Lead SCADA-related projects including system upgrades and expansions
- •Identify and evaluate new technologies for potential value addition through techno-economic analyses and field demonstrations
- •Support the deployment of innovations into large-scale commercial projects
Requirements
- •Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in engineering or a technical role in renewable energy.
- •Minimum of five (5) years of experience in SCADA systems, preferably in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar and battery storage.
- •Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited University or other technical degree; a Master's or Doctorate degree is a plus and counts towards professional experience.
- •Proficiency in Ignition, Canary Labs, SEL Hardware and Software, GE RX3i, Data Loggers, Meteorological Equipment, or similar systems.
- •Knowledge of networking and cybersecurity practices related to industrial control systems.
- •Experience implementing innovations on large-scale renewable energy projects and managing small-scale field demonstrations.
- •Broad experience across new solar technologies, energy storage, or application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to renewable energy.
- •Demonstrated strong engineering, design, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment, think outside the box, and solve traditional problems in new ways.
- •Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to self-start, prioritize efforts, and drive towards completion.
- •Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and take ownership of tasks.
- •Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to contextualize and present modeling results effectively.
- •Willingness to travel domestically up to 10%, including frequent travel to SB Energy’s Innovation Center if not based near Denver, CO.
