Job Description
A Senior Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for supporting the technical pre-sales process by demonstrating IoT hardware and software solutions to clients in the public sector, managing complex deployments, and building strong customer relationships to drive digital transformation in physical operations.
Responsibilities
- •Own the technical pre-sales cycle for large and strategic prospects in the public sector market.
- •Partner with sales teams to plan, prepare, and execute on complex sales deals.
- •Match customer pain points and requirements to appropriate IoT solutions.
- •Establish and maintain customer relationships and trust throughout the sales process.
- •Deploy and install hardware for proof of concepts (POCs) and set up SaaS dashboards.
- •Manage custom reporting and integrations via APIs.
- •Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to other Sales Engineers.
- •Collaborate with sales leadership to demonstrate product value and technical fit to customers.
Requirements
- •Bachelor of Science degree from a 4-year accredited university, or advanced education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- •Minimum 8 years of customer-facing pre-sales experience.
- •At least 5 years of experience in enterprise sales.
- •Deep understanding of APIs, security, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, automation, networking, and control systems.
- •Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems in a maintenance shop environment.
- •Experience in selling complex solutions and navigating intricate customer evaluations and deployments.
- •Ability to analyze customer requirements, prioritize feature requests, and champion collaboration between customers and product teams.
- •Ability to develop compelling financial models and business justifications to support recommendations.
- •Experience leading complex projects and fostering a collaborative environment where stakeholders are empowered to achieve results.
- •Ability to travel frequently up to 50%, with close proximity to a major airport highly preferred.
- •Living within 50 miles of New York City.
- •Experience with integration projects.
- •Understanding of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, etc., is highly preferred.
- •Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications.
- •Experience working with Fleet, Logistics, Supply Chain, Telematics, Manufacturing, or general operations background is highly preferred.
- •Public Sector Experience.
- •Experience with technical enablement and knowledge sharing across teams.
- •Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Databricks Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow.
- •Familiarity with ESRI.
