Job Description
The Sales Engineer at Samsara supports sales efforts by demonstrating the company's IoT solutions, conducting proof-of-concept trials, and providing technical expertise to help customers improve their physical operations across various industries. The role involves working closely with sales teams, developing technical proposals, and contributing to product development in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the value proposition of Samsara’s products and services through on-site, remote, and event presentations.
- Facilitate live proof-of-concept trials, including hardware installation and customer onboarding to ensure full utilization of the platform.
- Collaborate with Product Management and other teams to contribute to platform development and respond to RFIs and RFPs.
- Partner with sales teams to plan, prepare, and execute strategic deals within complex sales cycles.
- Identify customer needs and pain points, translating them into tailored solutions and building trusted relationships.
- Contribute technical expertise and industry knowledge to support sales and team enablement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in customer-facing roles and 3 years of pre-sales experience.
- Experience with Enterprise sales cycles or equivalent.
- Clinical execution of discovery, through to POV, and technical win.
- Understanding and appreciation of value selling, and MEDDICC.
- Previous hands-on experience with customer evaluations and deployments (preferred).
- Well-versed in one of the following: cloud software, IoT, networking, automation, and control systems.
- Experience with integration projects, including at minimum comprehension of RESTful APIs.
- Experience scripting in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages (preferred).
- Experience working with Fleet, Logistics, Supply Chain, Telematics, Manufacturing, or general operations background (preferred).
- Ability to demonstrate the value proposition of Samsara’s products and services on-site, remotely via webinar, or at field events.
- Ability to facilitate live proof-of-concept trials, including hardware installation in and around vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs and RFPs.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to eliminate sales obstacles using creative and adaptive approaches.
- Comfort working in a dynamic technical organization with a fast-growing partner and customer base.
- Highly available to Sales and cross-functional teams to make a measurable impact on Sales and product development.
- Ability to partner with account executives to plan, prepare, and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
- Ability to discover customer processes, needs, and pain points, and translate that understanding into trusted advisory relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to match customer pain points and requirements to proposed solutions.
