Job Description
The Director of Hardware Engineering will lead the hardware design team in Taiwan, managing electrical and product design engineers while collaborating with various teams to develop and validate high-volume hardware products. This role involves overseeing the design process, mentoring team members, and ensuring successful product delivery in alignment with company goals.
Responsibilities
- •Lead the hardware design team in Taiwan, managing EE and PD engineers.
- •Collaborate with Supply Chain, Product Management, quality engineers, and JDM design resources.
- •Conduct cost and design feasibility studies including chipset selection and industrial design.
- •Research and stay updated on the latest silicon technologies from semiconductor companies.
- •Evaluate system feature trade-offs and create system specifications with cross-functional teams.
- •Lead the development process from prototyping to field validation.
- •Mentor and develop the team of electrical and product design engineers.
- •Partner with JDM companies to design, validate, and manufacture quality products.
Requirements
- •3 years of director level experience shipping high volume hardware programs with ODM and JDM partners overseas.
- •15 Systems design expertise including chipset SoC selection, power, antennas RF, batteries, PCB design, etc.
- •Proven record navigating tradeoffs between design, manufacturability, schedule, and cost.
- •Worked on a wide variety of systems for different use cases including automotive, indoor and outdoor industrial areas leveraging low power, wireless LTE, BLE, WiFi, GPS, embedded AI ML, imaging, sensors, etc.
- •Excellent communications and organizational skills to enable collaboration and team development.
- •BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
- •Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and proximity to an international airport.
