Job Description
A Chemical Operator at Redwood Materials is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining complex chemical processing equipment in a high-tech plant focused on recycling and sustainable battery materials, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
Responsibilities
- •Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot plant systems and equipment.
- •Perform in-process analyses and adjust operations to maintain parameters within specifications.
- •Ensure safety by addressing unsafe conditions and adhering to safety protocols.
- •Manage day-to-day operations of the production line, including sampling and equipment adjustments.
- •Operate various production equipment such as tanks, pumps, filters, heat exchangers, and other machinery.
- •Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to execute and communicate instructions.
- •Perform routine sampling and analysis to verify product quality.
- •Respond to process deviations to maintain product quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- •Working knowledge of chemical plant operations and equipment
- •At least 6 months of relevant experience in chemical plant operations or related field
- •Experience operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting plant systems, including process instrumentation and analytics
- •Ability to analyze trends in plant parameters such as temperature, pressure, pH, and flow to respond appropriately to process deviations
- •Ability to perform the physical tasks associated with the position, including bending, lifting, twisting, climbing, standing, and walking multiple levels
- •Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards
- •Ability to complete a respiratory fit test and respiratory medical evaluation
- •Ability to work with PPE, including safety shoes, hard hat, disposable coveralls, and Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) for extended periods of time up to a full shift
- •Ability to climb ladders and stairs and operate and train on equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts
- •Ability to work in difficult working conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, for extended periods of time
- •Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- •Possession of or ability to obtain HAZWOPER Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response certification upon hire

- •Work environment includes outside, office, and indoor conditions with exposure to loud noises, extreme heat, and cold
- •Physical requirements include climbing ladders, working at heights, standing, stooping, and working with PPE for extended periods
