Job Description
The Associate EHS Engineer is responsible for supporting environmental health and safety programs, conducting audits, ensuring compliance, and assisting with safety initiatives in a manufacturing environment focused on sustainable battery materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform industrial hygiene monitoring, safety audits, and hazard recognition.
- Develop, implement, and support EHS programs and policies, including air permitting and industrial hygiene.
- Conduct safety and compliance audits, incident investigations, and develop corrective actions.
- Support emergency spill response, waste management, and hazard mitigation activities.
- Maintain EHS documentation, reports, and inspection records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure program compliance and promote safety policies.
Requirements
- A 4-year degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering Science, Biology, Chemistry or sciences is required.
- Experience implementing EHS programs for large-scale manufacturing, industrial, or chemical operations.
- Ability to work with multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure program compliance.
- Ability to apply independent thinking and judgment to address resolution of EHS issues.
- Understanding of the challenges and pace of working in a startup environment.
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials and safe handling practices.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to constant change.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated, hands-on mindset, with a willingness to contribute at all levels.
- Well organized, with excellent attention to detail and a passion for Environment, Health, and Safety.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the position, including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing stairs and ladders, standing, and walking in a multi-level building up to 12 hours daily.
- Ability to work in manufacturing and construction environments, both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be physically capable of wearing a negative pressure tight-fitting respirator for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
- Ability to work the 6:00 pm to 6:00 am shift and work professionally and independently.
