Job Description
A Field Service Technician at PosiGen is responsible for assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining residential solar energy systems, ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction while working in various environments including rooftops and confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain the warranty and service schedule, ensuring timely communication and completion of work.
- Assemble mechanical components for ground or roof-mounted solar systems, including racking and solar arrays.
- Complete onsite damage roof assessments and assist with roof leak investigations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve warranty and service issues related to solar modules, inverters, monitoring, and system components.
- Assist with electrical Field Service Dispatches and update FSDs in Salesforce.
- Support training and development of Field Service Technicians and onboarding of new team members.
- Perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, working on rooftops, and working in confined spaces to install and service solar systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school degree in construction, building sciences, engineering, or architecture preferred.
- Actively licensed as an Electrician in applicable state or relevant work experience may be considered in place of a license where applicable.
- Five (5) years of experience preferred in a discipline related to rooftop photovoltaic installations, construction, or building sciences.
- OSHA 10 certification is required upon hire or must be obtained within three (3) months of employment.
- Residential solar experience is required.
- Experience in estimating or site auditing is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred, especially in roles requiring direct interaction with homeowners or clients.
- Proficiency with computers and software, including Google Workspace, with the ability to learn and utilize platforms like Dropbox and Salesforce CRM across multiple devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones).
- Willing to complete the pre-employment screening process.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a minimum of three (3) years of driving history, a clean driving record, and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work in a variety of extreme environmental conditions such as high heat and cold temperatures.
- Willing and able to climb ladders, ascend and descend stairs, and work on rooftops of multi-level buildings, as well as within confined spaces such as attics, crawl spaces, or under mobile homes, with no fear of heights or tight spaces.
- Capable of performing physical tasks in various work environments, including lifting up to 70 pounds.
- Regularly able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
