Job Description
A Collections Agent responsible for contacting customers to discuss overdue payments, negotiate repayment plans, and ensure compliance with policies, while providing excellent customer service and meeting collection goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively contact customers in arrears via calls to discuss payment options
- Negotiate suitable repayment arrangements with customers
- Educate customers on available payment solutions
- Update customer records to reflect interactions and agreements
- Address and resolve customer concerns effectively
- Explain lease agreements to help customers understand their obligations
- Handle resistant customers with professionalism and tact
- Assess customer circumstances and determine appropriate payment actions
- Complete administrative tasks to support departmental operations
- Follow company procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years in customer service.
- Familiarity with billing and collections procedures.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Accurate typing speed of 45 words per minute with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize workload.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence customer decisions while remaining professional.
- Demonstrates tact, resilience, and the ability to handle sensitive conversations with care.
- Capable of building rapport and relating to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with customers via phone and email.
- Physical ability to regularly speak, listen, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, and reach with arms.
- Physical ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Vision requirements include the ability to focus at close and long distances, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral awareness, perceive depth, and make precise focus adjustments.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/hourly rate of 19-21 USD plus a commission plan
Average commission of 500-1,500 USD per month, adding approximately 12,000-30,000 USD annually
Total earning potential of 40,000-70,000 USD per year
