Job Description
A Senior SCADA Programmer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining energy management and control systems for utility-scale energy storage projects, supporting their commissioning and operation within North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Ignition-based SCADA systems and associated platforms
- Program HMI and integrate data with internal and external applications
- Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs, and related equipment
- Assist in developing, configuring, and maintaining PLCs and RTUs for energy storage plants
- Support day-to-day plant SCADA and control system operations to ensure network reliability
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and modifications
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex control system issues
Requirements
- Minimum BA/BS degree in a related field; electrical engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, with highly preferred experience in the renewable energy industry.
- Experience with battery energy storage systems use cases including primary frequency response (PFR), fast frequency response (FFR), and black start is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and maintaining plant control systems using industry standard SCADA and PLC platforms.
- Understanding of data logging requirements and various historian platforms.
- Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition platform.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including DNP3.0, Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, and SNMP.
- Programming language experience in Python, IEC 61131-3, C, C++, or C#.
- Experience in server deployment and management, specifically with AWS.
- Proficient in writing technical specifications for process or manufacturing equipment.
- Strong understanding of cyber-security best practices including IT/OT standards.
- Knowledge of NERC CIP and NIST procedures.
- Ability to explain complex technical analysis in a simplified manner to internal management and external parties.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
