Job Description
The Technical Program Manager at Planet is responsible for managing and coordinating complex satellite missions, ensuring successful deployment and operation of satellite constellations, and serving as a key technical liaison with customers, primarily in Japan, to deliver space-based imaging solutions and services.
Responsibilities
- •Serve as the technical expert for a key customer, ensuring smooth engagement and communication.
- •Develop, manage, and execute end-to-end program plans for the Pelican satellite mission.
- •Interpret technical trades, analyze risks, and communicate technical progress and issues to stakeholders.
- •Operationalize the customer constellation of 10 Pelican satellites from launch to nominal operations.
- •Track verification and validation activities to ensure deliverables meet specifications.
- •Maintain a knowledge repository balancing regulatory, privacy, and transparency considerations.
- •Coordinate cross-functional efforts to support contract deliverables and act as a focal point for the Program Management Team.
- •Collect and address imagery product and satellite performance concerns with action plans.
- •Facilitate collaboration across teams and align customer initiatives within and outside contract scope.
Requirements
- •4 years total of Technical Program Management, Systems Engineering, or Customer Success experience
- •Fluent in reading and writing Japanese
- •Working proficiency in English, the language of the company
- •Strong project management experience
- •Some systems engineering experience
- •Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills paired with the ability to communicate findings and recommendations
- •Experience with remote sensing, space systems, or imaging
- •Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and work with multiple roles across the company or organization
- •Eligible for US Export Control licenses such as ITAR and EAR
- •The position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
