Job Description
The Senior Security Engineer will work on securing space-related systems for Planet's satellite and data operations, developing security tools, conducting reviews, and maintaining critical security systems to support Earth's imaging and data solutions.
Responsibilities
- •Develop and automate software security tools and automation processes
- •Conduct security reviews of satellite and ground-based software
- •Review security automation and test results
- •Perform security design reviews of satellite systems
- •Set up and test launch racks or lab equipment
- •Run penetration tests on systems
- •Maintain critical systems for the SatSec team, such as Hardware Security Modules and network traffic analysis
- •Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure security and operational goals are met
- •Assist with security aspects of corporate systems as needed
Requirements
- •Experience with encryption and cyber security concepts.
- •Six (6) years of work experience in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar field.
- •Proficiency in C and Python programming languages.
- •Experience automating tests.
- •Familiarity with open source tools and frameworks.
- •Excellent technical skills.
- •Excellent interpersonal skills.
- •The ability to access export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.

- •Compensation/salary range: $144,500 - $180,600 USD (US base salary)
