Job Description

The Associate Civil Project Engineer manages the design and development of civil features for utility-scale and distributed solar energy projects, including site grading, stormwater management, and permitting, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project compliance and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design civil engineering features for large-scale solar arrays, including grading, access roads, and support structures
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering team to optimize array layouts considering site challenges
  • Prepare and maintain AutoCAD drawing plansets, including redlining and adhering to standards
  • Review and interpret geotechnical and wetland delineation reports
  • Produce cut-fill plans and quantities to ensure proper slope and foundation optimization
  • Develop stormwater management plans, including SWPPP, erosion, and dust control measures
  • Research and ensure compliance with DOT, utility, stormwater, and erosion control requirements
  • Conduct site grading, drainage calculations, and hydrology analyses, and prepare draft reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Hands-on experience in construction or land development including internships.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD.
  • Experience in site grading and drainage calculations, plan preparation, site hydrology calculations, and developing draft reports for review before final submittals.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand project documentation with a focus on fulfilling all permit and site requirements.
  • Experience researching DOT, utility, storm water, and erosion control requirements for in or out of state jurisdictions.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Ability to contribute to an amicable team working environment.
  • Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a roll-up-your-sleeves and let’s-get-the-job-done-right attitude.
  • Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and professional responsibility.
  • Ability to travel and access sites of varying terrain, with frequent travel up to 1-2 weeks per month or about 20% of working time.
  • Must carry an active driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
