Job Description
The Associate Civil Project Engineer manages the design and development of civil features for utility-scale and distributed solar energy projects, including site grading, stormwater management, and permitting, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project compliance and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- •Design civil engineering features for large-scale solar arrays, including grading, access roads, and support structures
- •Collaborate with electrical engineering team to optimize array layouts considering site challenges
- •Prepare and maintain AutoCAD drawing plansets, including redlining and adhering to standards
- •Review and interpret geotechnical and wetland delineation reports
- •Produce cut-fill plans and quantities to ensure proper slope and foundation optimization
- •Develop stormwater management plans, including SWPPP, erosion, and dust control measures
- •Research and ensure compliance with DOT, utility, stormwater, and erosion control requirements
- •Conduct site grading, drainage calculations, and hydrology analyses, and prepare draft reports
Requirements
- •Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- •Hands-on experience in construction or land development including internships.
- •Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD.
- •Experience in site grading and drainage calculations, plan preparation, site hydrology calculations, and developing draft reports for review before final submittals.
- •Ability to read, interpret, and understand project documentation with a focus on fulfilling all permit and site requirements.
- •Experience researching DOT, utility, storm water, and erosion control requirements for in or out of state jurisdictions.
- •Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage time and prioritize tasks.
- •Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
- •Ability to contribute to an amicable team working environment.
- •Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- •Must have a roll-up-your-sleeves and let’s-get-the-job-done-right attitude.
- •Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and professional responsibility.
- •Ability to travel and access sites of varying terrain, with frequent travel up to 1-2 weeks per month or about 20% of working time.
- •Must carry an active driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
