Job Description

The Solar Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and installation of equipment at solar power plants, ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures. This role involves hands-on work with electrical components and requires strong problem-solving skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, test, repair, and install equipment in solar power plants
  • Operate and maintain solar power plants in accordance with established standards
  • Troubleshoot system problems and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Test installed equipment and conduct daily mechanical and electrical inspections
  • Document work orders, service orders, time logs, and emergency information schedules
  • Maintain inventory control of assigned equipment
  • Ensure high quality control on provided tools, vehicles, and materials
  • Train, mentor, and develop laborers into Apprentices
  • Ensure continuing education to meet safety and plant requirements

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License REQUIRED
  • 3 years suitable employment experience
  • Ability to perform necessary physical activity, including lifting up to 80 Lbs
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic electrical calculations and read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow, working independently with minimal supervision
  • Provide a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components with help and use of digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment
  • Responsible for documentation including, but not limited to work orders, service orders, time logs, and emergency information schedules
  • Maintain high quality control on provided tools, vehicles and materials
  • Train, mentor and develop laborers into Apprentices
  • Ensure continuing education to meet safety and plant requirements
