Job Description
The Shift Supervisor at Nuro leads and manages the operations team at their Las Vegas testing site, overseeing autonomous vehicle testing, mission coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to validate and improve autonomous driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of onsite operators and specialists, ensuring their well-being and performance.
- Coordinate and schedule onsite missions including testing, deployment validation, mapping, data collection, demos, training, and vehicle bring-up.
- Track, report, and analyze issues and metrics across multiple mission types through meetings and test results.
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers, technicians, and other teams to improve technologies and workflows.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and training to the operations team.
- Educate team members and the public about autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors.
- Lead planning and logistics for off-site team travel for testing activities.
- Conduct daily team meetings to prepare for and review missions.
Requirements
- Three years of management experience leading non-exempt teams.
- An understanding of autonomy and teleoperator systems.
- Reliability, responsibility, and attention to detail.
- Good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress situations.
- Ability to work independently or in small groups without direct supervision.
- Ability to effectively manage and set expectations using data-driven evidence for performance improvement needs.
- Ability to clearly and effectively describe challenges or areas for improvement to stakeholders using accurate metrics.
- Hands-on approach to testing and ability to execute testing needs as well as delegate them.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, spend extended periods standing, and work in temperatures above 100°F.
- Flexible working schedule, including availability for an AM shift (e.g., 5:30 am - 2:30 pm PT, Mondays through Fridays) and occasional nights and weekends as needed.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and coaching skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and be part of a team building something that hasn’t been done before, with a first principles, solution-driven approach.
- Availability to support testing activities during early morning hours and occasional nights and weekends.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range between $60,800 and $82,080 per year, plus potential annual performance bonus and equity
Flexible working schedule, including AM shift from 5:30am to 2:30pm PT, Mondays through Fridays, with occasional nights and weekends
