Job Description
The Autonomous Vehicle Operator is responsible for safely operating and testing Nuro's autonomous vehicles, collecting data, troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve autonomous driving technology while ensuring safety and adherence to company standards.
Responsibilities
- •Operate autonomous test vehicles safely for up to 8 hours daily
- •Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to improve technology and workflows
- •Utilize proprietary software to collect data and troubleshoot real-world situations
- •Provide detailed feedback to engineering teams based on vehicle operation
- •Interact with the public to educate them about autonomous vehicle technologies
Requirements
- •Have a current valid California driver's license and have been in possession of a US license for at least 3 years
- •Have a clean driving record and pass a criminal background check
- •Be responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
- •Be able to work independently or in small groups and for periods without direct supervision
- •Have advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
- •Be self-driven and have experience working in a start-up or dynamic environment, or possess the DNA to thrive in one
- •Be collaborative and team-oriented
- •Be able to reliably work the PM shift from 2:15 pm to 10:45 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, and occasionally weekends as needed
- •Be physically capable of performing duties including bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
- •Be able to sit for up to 8 hours per day in an enclosed vehicle, alone or with a co-driver
- •Have the ability to perform side, up, down movements of the head, neck, back, and shoulders necessary to operate a vehicle safely
- •Be able to work in a vehicle that may brake, swerve, slow, or stop abruptly
- •Be able to hold and grasp with hands and frequently use foot pedals when driving the vehicle
- •Willingness to operate proprietary software to collect data and troubleshoot in real-world situations
- •Willingness to occasionally interact with members of the public to educate them on autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors
