Job Description
The Energy Storage Project Developer will lead the origination, development, and management of energy storage projects in the East Coast, working with stakeholders to secure permits, negotiate contracts, and ensure successful project completion to support the company's clean energy mission.
Responsibilities
- •Originate and develop energy storage projects, managing site origination, permitting, interconnection, tax negotiation, and revenue contracting.
- •Identify and interface with utilities, C&I customers, landowners, and prospects to evaluate and secure new project opportunities.
- •Manage proposal processes for RFPs within a specified territory.
- •Evaluate site-related due diligence to support project origination.
- •Coordinate with the energy storage team to incorporate new markets and products into development opportunities.
- •Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- •Communicate with stakeholders to facilitate permitting and approval processes.
- •Support finance, legal, technical, and construction teams to enable project financing and construction.
- •Manage external consultants supporting civil, permitting, and development activities.
- •Identify, manage, and resolve real estate issues such as easements, access, and title concerns.
Requirements
- •Four years of relevant renewable energy project development or power industry experience, ideally within NYC.
- •Ability to develop projects from inception through investment decision.
- •Experience cultivating and managing relationships with external stakeholders such as customers, landowners, local officials, and permitting agencies.
- •Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- •Experience growing out a pipeline of projects in a new market (preferred).
- •Experience negotiating site control documents with commercial and industrial real estate owners.
- •Experience in developing energy storage projects, including site origination, permitting, interconnection, tax negotiation, revenue contracting, and other development activities.
- •Ability to identify and interface with utilities, C&I customers, landowners, and prospects to evaluate and secure new project opportunities.
- •Experience managing proposal processes for RFPs within a specified territory.
- •Ability to evaluate site-related due diligence in support of project origination.
- •Experience managing project schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- •Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders to facilitate permitting and approval processes.
- •Experience supporting internal finance, legal, technical, and construction teams to facilitate project financing and construction.
- •Experience managing external consultants supporting civil, permitting, and other development activities.
- •Ability to identify, manage, and resolve real estate issues, including easements, access, and title concerns.
- •Willingness to travel as needed, including some evening and weekend work.
- •Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond the organization.
- •Experience showing initiative to improve current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
- •Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- •Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty.
