Job Description
A Solar Project Manager responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and performance of a large portfolio of solar sites, involving site visits, contractor management, budgeting, and problem-solving to ensure long-term operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a large portfolio of solar sites, overseeing maintenance, remediations, and safety protocols.
- Coordinate and communicate with vendors, contractors, tenants, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct site visits, walk inspections, and troubleshoot issues such as ground faults and equipment failures.
- Review and assess preventive maintenance reports and field data for accuracy and reliability.
- Manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective operations across multiple sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and implement safety procedures on all sites.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with team members, vendors, and clients.
- Make informed decisions to drive site performance and resolve operational problems promptly.
Requirements
- Must live in Massachusetts, or within 40 minutes of Taunton, as relocation is not offered for this position.
- Experience managing contractors, budgets, and production targets in a solar or related technical environment.
- Knowledge of electrical testing procedures, specifically understanding what a megger test is and how to read it.
- Hands-on technical experience such as turning a wrench, tracing ground faults in the field, and familiarity with torque settings.
- Ability to walk a site, review Preventive Maintenance (PM) reports, and assess their validity quickly.
- Experience dealing with subcontractors, maintaining professional communication, and ensuring job completion.
- Proficiency in writing clean, professional emails and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word proficiently without difficulty.
- Responsiveness, friendliness, and respectful attitude towards tenants and onsite stakeholders.
- Ability to keep promises and follow through on commitments.
- Motivated individual who is committed to working hard, setting high standards, and supporting team efforts.
- Willingness to travel regularly to solar sites in Southern Massachusetts, walk sites, and perform hands-on work when needed.
- Experience owning a large portfolio of solar sites (150-300 sites) and driving performance improvements.
- Ability to build relationships, make decisions, and solve problems quickly in a field environment.
- Physical ability to perform site visits, walk sites, and perform hands-on tasks as required.
