Job Description
The Embedded Systems Engineer will develop, test, and support advanced MEMS-based inertial sensors and subsystems for navigation and positioning applications, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative, reliable solutions for demanding industries such as aerospace and automotive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of subsystems for position, navigation, and timing (PNT) applications.
- Design, fabricate, integrate, and test MEMS sensor components and subsystems.
- Deploy embedded solutions in environmental tests and field demonstrations.
- Interface with vendors to establish supply chain partners for developed architectures.
- Build drivers and write test/control software for custom hardware and scientific instruments.
- Design and execute environmental and field tests on devices.
- Develop emulations and simulations of hardware devices.
- Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software using MATLAB and Simulink.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and C programming languages.
- Ability to build drivers for custom hardware and scientific instruments.
- Understanding of PCB design, assembly, and PCB layout software.
- Ability to write test and control software for complex and varied systems.
- Ability to rapidly prototype with evaluation platforms.
- Experience in designing and executing environmental and field tests on devices.
- Ability to develop emulations and simulations of hardware devices.
- Experience in designing, developing, coding, testing, and debugging system software.
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink for system software development.
- Familiarity with low-noise analog and digital test equipment.
- Ability to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers.
- Ability to operate complex electronic equipment and perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits.
- Ability to prepare written and oral presentations.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Experience with mixed signal circuit board design and evaluation is desired.
- Familiarity with different families of FPGAs, DSPs, and microcontrollers is desired.
- Working knowledge of MEMS accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, inertial measurement units (IMU), and inertial navigation systems is a big plus.
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
- Educational requirement of a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of industry experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of industry experience, or a doctoral degree.
