Job Description
A computational scientist will support the characterization and optimization of qubit performance, develop software for quantum processor simulation and experiments, and collaborate with software developers and experimentalists in the field of quantum information science.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in characterizing qubit performance and optimizing quantum control
- Develop and contribute to software for quantum processor simulation and experiments
- Write and analyze source code for quantum characterization, simulation, and compilation
- Collaborate with software developers and experimental practitioners
- Design, develop, profile, and optimize software for multicore CPU and GPGPU computations involving matrices, multi-dimensional arrays, PDEs, and Monte Carlo methods
Requirements
- Candidates must exhibit abilities to read and produce robust source code and associated mathematical analysis for numerical evaluation of methods in quantum characterization, simulation, and compilation.
- Candidates must be familiar with mathematical software development, preferably Python-based, or alternatively Julia, C, C++, etc.
- Candidates must be proficient in modern software-engineering practices, including designing clean, well-documented APIs.
- Candidates must be experienced in developing, profiling, and optimizing multicore CPU and/or GPGPU computations involving matrices, multi-dimensional arrays, PDEs, and Monte Carlo methods.
- Candidates must have a doctoral degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a similar field adjoining applied quantum information.
- Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
- Candidates must have collaborative software development experience or equivalent software skills, including source control with SVN, Git, branching, pull requests, code review, test-driven development, and CI/CD.
- Candidates must be able to read and produce mathematical analysis for numerical evaluation of methods in quantum characterization, simulation, and compilation.
- Candidates must have facility with Linux/Unix operating systems.

Base salary range of $132,765 - $165,983
