Job Description
This role involves providing legal counsel and support in intellectual property law, including copyright, trademark, licensing, and related areas, to support Esri's business activities globally. The position requires managing IP transactions, reviewing copyrighted materials, and advising on IP issues in various legal contexts.
Responsibilities
- •Provide legal counsel and support in copyright, trademark, and other IP law areas.
- •Develop, draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements for software and data.
- •Conduct IP review of Esri products, materials, and third-party requests for use of copyrighted works.
- •Assist with IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and investments.
- •Manage IP support efforts with outside counsel for transactional and litigation matters.
Requirements
- •Admittance and licensed in good standing before California State Bar or other state bar and registered to practice before all levels of courts
- •At least 5 years of relevant legal experience in a private practice law firm or in-house counsel position
- •Degree in Business Marketing, Computer Science, or other relevant degrees
- •JD or LLM from an ABA accredited law school
- •Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with various clients at the same time
- •Solid business acumen and judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to isolate issues for escalation
- •Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with all levels of management and staff in a variety of Esri intra-departments and with end users, international distributors, domestic business partners, other strategic business relationships, and third-party vendors and suppliers
