Job Description
The Utility Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, inspection, and basic maintenance of plant equipment in a renewable energy facility, supporting continuous production and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mobile equipment such as skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance to ensure proper functioning
- Support routine inspections and maintenance of dryer, furnace, emissions, and environmental equipment
- Perform daily preventative maintenance activities including cleaning and tooling changes
- Ensure safety procedures are followed during equipment operation and maintenance
Requirements
- Operate mobile equipment including skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders.
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
- Support and carry out activities with routine inspections and maintenance of the dryer, furnace, emissions, and environmental equipment.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment and standard work cleaning activities of emissions equipment strainers, tooling changes, housekeeping, and wash downs.
- Be knowledgeable and experienced with heavy equipment operation.
- Work safely and efficiently, performing all essential functions of the job.
- Understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Operate the machine in a timely and safe manner.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED.
- Be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
- Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
- Work around moving equipment and machinery safely.
- Pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
