Job Description
The Solar Programs Associate - Consumer Protection supports the Illinois Shines program by assisting consumers with solar energy program inquiries and complaints, investigating violations, and ensuring consumer rights are protected in the transition to renewable energy sources.
Responsibilities
- •Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Program requirements and procedures
- •Evaluate customer complaints and facilitate their resolution
- •Communicate with consumers via phone and email regarding complaints
- •Investigate allegations of Program violations and recommend disciplinary actions
- •Draft disciplinary-related correspondence to vendors
- •Use program resources to answer client questions and resolve issues
- •Assist with stranded customer support processes
- •Update public-facing reports on consumer complaints and violations
- •Follow Standard Operating Procedures for complaint resolution and disciplinary actions
- •Participate in video conference calls
- •Manage or contribute to ad hoc projects related to Consumer Protection and Illinois Shines
Requirements
- •A bachelor’s degree OR a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree.
- •Competency with technical topics.
- •Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- •Ability to function as a team player and multi-task between various projects to help meet and exceed program goals.
- •Extensive experience using Microsoft Office, Office365, SharePoint, and OneNote.
- •Willingness and ability to work in a hybrid work environment adjacent to one of the specified offices (Oakland, CA; Portland, OR; or Chicago, IL) with a minimum of once a week in the office.
- •Experience evaluating participating customer complaints and assisting with complaint resolution via telephone and email.
- •Experience investigating allegations of Program violations, making recommendations for disciplinary actions, and drafting disciplinary-related letters to vendors.
- •Ability to use Program Guidebook, Consumer Protection Handbook, data stored in knowledge-base, and other sources of information to answer client questions and resolve issues.
- •Ability to update public-facing Consumer Complaint and Program Violations reports.
- •Ability to follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for complaint resolution and disciplinary actions, including communicating directly with solar vendors and customers.
- •Experience managing or contributing to ad hoc projects related to Consumer Protection and Illinois Shines.
- •Proficiency in using CRM systems such as Salesforce (desired).
- •Customer support experience (desired).
- •Proficiency in Spanish, including written communication (desired).
- •Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as preconditions of employment.
- •Authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely.
