Job Description
The Grid Integration Engineer at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for analyzing transmission systems, supporting interconnection processes, and developing technical models to facilitate the integration of solar and storage projects across the United States.
Responsibilities
- •Perform steady state power flow analysis for various interconnect systems.
- •Modify power flow base cases to include queued generation and conduct sensitivity analyses.
- •Provide cost estimates for interconnection facilities and network upgrades.
- •Advise project developers on project sizing options and associated costs and risks.
- •Support development and management of power flow and modeling tools for interconnection studies.
- •Prepare and oversee the development of models for solar and battery facilities.
- •Participate in stakeholder processes and working groups to influence interconnection policy.
- •Monitor industry standards and generator interconnection performance requirements.
Requirements
- •Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited university, specifically in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering disciplines.
- •3 to 5 years of transmission planning experience as a utility planner or consultant.
- •Prior experience working with multiple Independent System Operators (ISOs) and utilities, with detailed knowledge of interconnection study practices.
- •Experience performing steady state power flow analysis for the Eastern Interconnect, WECC, and ERCOT systems.
- •Ability to modify power flow base cases to add queued generation and create sensitivity analysis cases.
- •Experience providing cost estimates for potential interconnection facilities and network upgrades required to interconnect a new project.
- •Ability to advise project developers on options for sizing of new projects and the associated costs and risks.
- •Experience supporting the development of power flow tools such as TARA and PSS E.
- •Experience preparing and managing the development of project-specific steady state, dynamic, short circuit, and PSCAD models for solar and battery facilities.
- •Experience working with power flow software including PSS E, PowerWorld, TARA, etc.
- •Programming experience in Python or other programming languages.
- •Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and prioritize competing priorities.
