Job Description
The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on utility-scale solar PV systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of solar assets across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- •Perform on-site routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar PV systems
- •Conduct DC and AC testing, including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding, communication, insulation resistance, and I-V curve tracing
- •Maintain tools, meters, vehicle, and spare parts inventory
- •Create service reports and document major issues and downtime
- •Identify and eliminate safety hazards on-site
- •Respond to emergency repair cases and on-call duties as assigned
Requirements
- •Possession of NABCEP Certified Installation Professional certification
- •3-4 years of experience in PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring
- •Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems
- •Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, IV Curve Tracing, Meggers, Ground Fault Detection
- •Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices
- •Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams
- •Proficiency with MS Office suite
- •Valid Driver's License
- •OSHA 10 HR Training
- •NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace
- •Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends
- •Work is to be performed in the field and in the office, requiring excellent attendance and punctuality
- •Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures, including PPE such as hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection
- •Physical ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day
- •Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
