Job Description

The Tax Manager at Copia Power is responsible for managing tax compliance, planning, and strategy within the renewable energy sector, providing guidance to internal teams, and ensuring adherence to tax laws to support the company's financial performance and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage tax compliance, including preparation and review of income tax, sales tax, and other relevant tax filings.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide tax guidance and support to internal teams such as finance, legal, accounting, and project management.
  • Navigate complex tax issues specific to the renewable energy industry, including incentives, partnership structuring, and transfer pricing.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings and compliance.
  • Support and complete filings related to Investment Tax Credits and Production Tax Credits, including transferability and compliance with prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Review and structure contracts in partnership with Procurement and Legal to optimize tax outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in tax, preferably within public accounting specializing in the renewable energy sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements applicable to the renewable energy industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to provide strategic recommendations.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to work in the Lake Oswego, OR office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
