Job Description
The Senior Systems Engineer will focus on implementing systems engineering processes for vacuum pumping and fueling systems in fusion energy devices, collaborating across disciplines to ensure successful design, integration, and operation of critical subsystems throughout their development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Systems Engineering processes and systems thinking for Fueling and Vacuum Pumping Systems
- Manage a group of subsystems throughout the development lifecycle
- Develop requirements, perform verification and validation, and define interfaces
- Conduct trade studies, risk assessments, and risk management
- Develop operational concepts and control architecture
- Plan and execute system testing
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure system design, integration, and operation success
Requirements
- Experience in implementing Systems Engineering processes and applying systems thinking to complex systems such as Fueling Systems and Vacuum Pumping Systems.
- Ability to work on activities throughout the development lifecycle, including requirements development, verification and validation (V V), interface definition, trade studies, risk assessment and management, operational concept development, control architecture development, and test planning.
- Experience working with vacuum pumping systems that provide rough, high, and ultra-high vacuum pumping to systems such as Tokamak, Cryostat, and other interspaces.
- Experience working with fueling systems that fuel the tokamak's pulses and process exhaust.
- Comfortable with learning a variety of new technical topics and proactively applying that knowledge to ensure successful system development and implementation.
- Related experience and interest in working with systems such as Vacuum Pumping Systems and Process Fueling Systems.
- Compliance with U.S. laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information, including the ability to meet export control laws requirements.
