Job Description

The R&D Test Engineer at Commonwealth Fusion Systems is responsible for designing, building, and commissioning test equipment to support the testing and risk assessment of CFS HTS magnets, while collaborating across various teams to meet project objectives on aggressive schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Test and retire risks for CFS HTS magnets
  • Design, build, and commission test equipment
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, procurement, and SPARC teams
  • Challenge requirements, risks, and test objectives
  • Achieve consensus on planned tests and essential data

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical, electrical, materials, fluids, and software engineering, or some combination thereof.
  • Experience in the design, build, and commissioning of test equipment in support of development, qualification, and production test objectives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across manufacturing, R&D, procurement, and SPARC teams to achieve test campaigns.
  • Capability to push and challenge requirements, risks, and test objectives to help stakeholders reach consensus on planned tests and essential data.
