Job Description
The Senior IT Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting operational IT systems, including real-time energy management and SCADA applications, while collaborating with stakeholders to improve system performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, implement, administer, and support operational IT systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance existing systems and support continuous improvement.
- Implement projects for software systems supporting Realtime Operations, Data Analytics, Asset Management, and business functions.
- Develop and maintain SCADA EMS databases, displays, and related processes.
- Monitor and enhance systems related to Generation Management, Energy Market Interface, and NERC-CIP compliance.
- Develop and maintain software interfaces and data exchange with external control systems.
- Create procedures and applications to ensure safe, reliable, and regulatory-compliant technical operations.
- Maintain familiarity with SCADA EMS applications and interfaces.
- Develop custom software programs and scripts for system needs.
- Advise project teams on system enhancements, documentation, and compliance during system implementation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with PCs, servers, applications, data centers, and networks.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding support, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Provide real-time technical support to System Operators and Generation Dispatch personnel.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related quantitative field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience performing software system and application development.
- Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following five (5) years of experience performing configuration activities for various software applications.
- Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following four (4) years of experience working with real-time software applications, including Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Generation Management Systems (GMS).
- Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following four (4) years of experience conducting software development research with a focus on renewable energy system integration.
- Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following three (3) years of experience in testing software for Energy Management Systems and Energy Markets Interface systems.
- Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following three (3) years of experience using SQL databases, including Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, and MSSQL, as well as coding languages including C, C++, and Python.
