Job Description
A Senior Project Manager responsible for coordinating and delivering complex customer-facing projects related to Ubuntu embedded systems across various devices, ensuring successful project execution, stakeholder communication, and technical collaboration in a remote, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of complex customer-facing projects related to Ubuntu embedded systems
- Coordinate between engineering teams and customers to ensure project delivery
- Develop and maintain project statements of work, schedules, and plans
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within resources
- Mitigate project risks and resolve technical issues to meet delivery goals
- Communicate regularly with clients and internal stakeholders about project status
- Manage third-party deliverables and ensure alignment with project timelines
- Identify and address custom engineering requests outside existing contracts
- Advocate for appropriate Canonical technologies to customers
- Support projects across different time zones and work hours as needed
Requirements
- Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers managing software development teams and field engineers
- Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferably with resources in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
- Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
- Good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community, and understanding of computer architecture
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in English
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with extensive experience building successful internal and external partnerships and effective working relationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizational environments
- PMP, PMI, or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred
- Ability to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
