Job Description
This intermediate-level interior furniture designer role involves collaborating on healthcare and higher education projects, leading furniture development through all project phases, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, evaluating materials, and supervising junior staff to deliver functional and compliant interior design solutions.
Responsibilities
- •Lead the development of project goals through all phases, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
- •Evaluate client needs, analyze design objectives, and document spatial requirements.
- •Research, evaluate, and coordinate furniture selections throughout all project phases.
- •Coordinate design work, standards, and code compliance within the team and with other disciplines.
- •Develop furniture specification packages in collaboration with interior designers and vendors.
- •Produce presentations, cost estimates, and furniture specifications within project constraints.
- •Assist in project planning, budgeting, and follow-through of work plans.
- •Lead and participate in client meetings and site visits, including review of submittals and shop drawings.
- •Mentor and supervise less experienced furniture design staff.
- •Participate in and promote design leadership within the firm.
Requirements
- •Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture
- •Minimum of 6 years of related experience in interior design or furniture design
- •Current NCIDQ certification is preferred
- •Must be design focused and possess a working knowledge and experience in interior design and furniture specification
- •Must be an independent thinker and analytical
- •Strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- •Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite
- •Ability to lead the development of project goals through all project phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration
- •Experience evaluating client needs, analyzing and documenting design objectives and spatial requirements
- •Experience researching, evaluating, and coordinating furniture throughout all phases of interior design work
- •Experience coordinating design work, standards, and code compliance within a team and with other disciplines including interiors, architecture, engineering, and consultants
- •Experience developing furniture specification packages in coordination with interior designers
- •Ability to independently evaluate and select materials and consult with vendors
- •Experience producing presentations, cost estimates, and furniture specification packages in conformance with project time, budget, and quality constraints
- •Experience assisting in project planning, budgeting, and follow-through of work plans
- •Experience leading or assisting in client meetings
- •Experience mentoring and supervising less experienced furniture design staff
- •Experience participating in construction administration activities including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list
- •Willingness to travel as required
- •Professional business attire required for client meetings, including suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses, and skirts
- •Ability to perform site visits that may require physical walk-through of the site
