Job Description

A Structural Designer assists engineers in evaluating industrial structures and creating detailed 2D and 3D BIM drawings, primarily using AutoCAD and related modeling software, while performing field measurements and evaluations to support structural repair and design projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field evaluations and measurements of existing structures to develop repair drawings
  • Develop detailed structural drawings of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
  • Lead the development of design portions of evaluation reports
  • Review drawings produced by others
  • Drive the development of business applications for emerging technologies

Requirements

  • Possess a 2-year technical degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design or related field.
  • Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and BIM 3D Modelling software.
  • Experience with CADWorx, S3D, E3D, or similar 3D modelling tools.
  • Exposure to Bluebeam software.
  • Experience with Advanced Steel is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with REVIT software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments.
  • Physical mobility on the ground and at heights.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, earplugs, masks, respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
  • Ability to position oneself to work in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
  • Willingness to meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
