Job Description

The Remote Assistance Specialist at Aurora is responsible for monitoring and resolving autonomous vehicle trigger requests, providing remote commands during testing, and supporting vehicle operations to ensure safety and performance in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to trigger requests from autonomous vehicles during testing and operation
  • Safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles on roads and testing sites
  • Log real-time feedback on vehicle performance for engineering analysis
  • Triage and review remote assist workflows to ensure performance and compliance
  • Escalate operational issues with suggested solutions
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects to improve vehicle operations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology and operational changes
  • Interact with the public as a representative of Aurora

Requirements

  • Ability to constantly focus on a laptop monitoring proprietary tooling to aid autonomous vehicle operations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
  • Consistent focus on safety
  • Ability to think critically
  • Willingness to learn every day
  • Valid U.S. driver s license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check
  • Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings
  • Availability to work day or night shifts, including early mornings or late nights, on rotating shifts
  • Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
  • Ability to respond to and resolve trigger requests from fleet vehicles across public roads and closed course testing sites in a timely manner
  • Ability to safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles during on-road and closed course testing
  • Ability to log real-time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance during testing
  • Ability to triage and review remote assist workflows that are key to performance metrics and compliance
  • Ability to escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of how Aurora's self-driving technology works, including understanding daily software and operational changes
  • Work toward quantitative and qualitative goals impacting Vehicle Operations and Aurora
  • Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
