Job Description

The Project Manager at Atwell, LLC is responsible for managing land development projects by coordinating client communications, developing project plans, overseeing teams, ensuring quality standards, and achieving financial and business objectives in the civil engineering and land surveying fields.

Responsibilities

  • Establish project objectives and develop project proposals in collaboration with clients and management
  • Negotiate and secure contracts, invoice work, and collect accounts receivable according to contract terms
  • Manage client relationships by maintaining communication, addressing concerns, and promoting ongoing business opportunities
  • Coordinate and oversee project teams, assign responsibilities, and monitor project progress and quality
  • Maintain project documentation, including status updates, contracts, amendments, and reports
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and uphold the company's reputation
  • Track and achieve financial and performance objectives, including budgets, schedules, and revenue goals
  • Apply engineering, environmental, land planning, and survey concepts independently
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry standards and expand networks

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental, Land Planning, Land Surveying, or industry equivalent.
  • License highly ex, PLS, RLS, or PS.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in Land Surveying or Geospatial related fields.
  • Experience in dealing with private land development deadlines and expectations.
  • Knowledge of designing residential and commercial land development projects.
  • Knowledge of local construction market and contacts.
  • Experience utilizing Vision as a project management tool.
  • Ability to independently apply fundamental engineering, environmental, land planning, and survey concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written, as well as listening skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a contractual relationship with the client, including negotiating and obtaining a signed contract prior to commencing work.
  • Ability to develop project objectives, collaborate with the client and management business plan, and develop a project proposal.
  • Ability to promote internal communication by sharing information and encouraging dialogue within project teams, across market sectors, and throughout the organization.
  • Ability to keep the client informed, respond to client concerns promptly, and develop future business through marketing support and follow-up.
  • Proficiency in compiling project status updates for internal and client use, maintaining web-based document management software such as Expesite and Buzzsaw, and maintaining project inputs in Vision Opportunities and proposals.
  • Ability to compile and organize project materials, ensure product quality, and follow the Atwell Product Quality Manual and established standards.
  • Ability to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional and market segment publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies and trade organizations.
  • Ability to meet or exceed performance objectives including chargeability, invoicing ratio, individual revenue goals, Accounts Receivable within 60 days, work-in-process, write-offs, hours worked, dollar value of proposals written, and business development hours.
  • Ability to assist with organizing the project team, assign responsibilities, forecast workload shortages and overages, negotiate and contract with approved sub-consultants, and help determine project status.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize information, intervene as needed to assure project success, and assist with achieving financial objectives including maintaining project budget and schedule, approving expenditures, analyzing variances such as scope creep, negotiating scope changes, invoicing, and collecting payments.
  • Ability to assist with determining timeframes, budgets, staffing, and project management, and contribute to team efforts to accomplish team-driven results.
